LONG BIO

Elysha Vorstenbosch is a solo harp player, composer and improviser based out of Perth County. She enjoys exploring the realms of songwriting, Celtic, contemporary classical, electronic, and world music within her compositions and improvisations. A few of her greatest influences include Catriona McKay, Loreena McKinnett, Yuki Kajiura and Maeve Gilchrist who sparked her interest in exploring extended techniques, foot-tapping tunes and haunting serenades. Her compositions and improvisations draw upon her life experiences, fantastical creatures and stories of her imagination, the awe inspiring creations of the world and her curiosity of the possibilities of what the lever harp can do.

Elysha has been playing harp for eight years. For the majority of this time, she was a member of the Huron Harp School, led by Sharon Johnston and Mary Ross. She is currently studying harp under the tutelage of Sharlene Wallace, composition under the tutelage of Cameron McKittrick, Barbara Assiginaak and Kevin Day, and has studied musical improvisation under the tutelage of Kathryn Ladano at Wilfrid Laurier University to complete her Bachelor of Music. She continues to refine her harp playing and explore her musical style for songwriting, composing and improvising.

As a member of the Canadian Musicians Co-operative, Elysha has reconstructed and strengthened her understanding of the music industry and her own brand. This opportunity has equipped her with the skills to develop a formal marketing plan and it provided her with multiple hours each week to perform on the Canadian Musicians’ Co-operative Livestreams and live in public.
